Shlomo Magdassi is a professor of chemistry, at the Casali Center for Applied Chemistry, the Institute of Chemistry, and the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. Prof. Magdassi holds the Enrique Berman Chair in Solar Energy. Currently, he is the head of the 3D and functional printing center, and the Chairman of Asper-HUJI Innovate, The Hebrew University’s center for innovation and entrepreneurship.
He is the Program Co-Leader of Smart grippers for Soft Robotics (SGSR), under CREATE, which is based on collaboration between the Hebrew University, NTU and SUTD.
His research focuses on materials science, chemistry, and nanotechnology. The main research fields of the group are the formation and stabilization of inorganic and organic nanomaterials, formulation of these materials in various delivery systems, coatings and inks, and their application in a variety of fields such as printed electronics, 2D/3D/4D printing, solar energy, and soft robotics. Current research projects include conductive inks for printed electronics, new materials for 3D printing, printed soft robotics, and inkjet inks for solar energy harvesting. Based on some of the research projects, commercial activities evolved leading to worldwide sales and the establishment of new companies.
