SHARE had the pleasure of interviewing Professor Matan Gavish, Lead PIs of ISURF at SHARE, Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Rehovot, Israel. Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, in collaboration with Bar-Ilan University and Vanderbilt University, have proposed a novel model for the onset of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) that challenges the traditional view of viral involvement. They suggest that disrupted RNA editing within pancreatic beta cells could trigger an inflammatory response resembling early-stage T1D, offering a new perspective on the disease's development.
